Frequently asked questions
If you would like to know about our copyrights in further detail, please refer to the following:
*Note that Batman is used as simply one example of a copyrighted/trademarked character/logo.
Q: Why was my designed case with the image of Batman* rejected?
A: It is because the copyrights and licensing for this fictional character belong to DC Comics. Unless permission to use the particular image of Batman is granted directly from DC Comics, we are not able to help you print it on our cases.
This also applies to reproduced art/design of Batman from a third-party artist. For example, if an artist recreates a trademarked logo/character/design/celebrity, the imagery is still copyrighted and licensed by their respective organizations, not the artist.
Q: Are there any designs/logos that require me to obtain permission before submitting the design to RHINOSHIELD?
A: If you are printing a logo of your company or university, you are able to obtain permission from the person in charge of the establishment to print out their logos and trademarks for commercial use.
Q: Can I print a photo of my favourite celebrity? A band member? Or a famous singer?
A: The majority of users might consider images that are uploaded online as free resources for public use. In theory, these images/illustrations would be fair game for a business to use, but when the images involve a person who had not agreed to have themselves printed on the product, they are able to take action against the organization/company in a form of wrongfully using the image of this personality without their consent.
Q: I found the image on a website where it said I could use it freely, why was it cancelled then?
A: This is because copyright laws have various tiers, COMMERCIAL and NON-COMMERCIAL USE.
On certain websites, you can download it and put it on your computer wallpaper without any issues. This is different from RHINOSHIELD printing it out and selling you the case with the image. Please bear in mind, RHINOSHIELD could be the one held legally liable and not the consumer.
So, unless you are the original author of the image and can provide proof to us or you obtained written proof from the author of said image stating you and RHINOSHIELD are able to use the design/image for commercial purposes; you will not be able to use the image for this service.
